Continental relies on Xilinx expertise for auto-driving computer platform: Page 2 of 2

At CES 2018, automotive supplier Continental will be presenting a computing platform for automated driving and processing huge amounts of data. The platform, developed in close cooperation with FPGA heavyweight Xilinx, offers flexibility and adaptability to the changing market requirements for automated driving, such as machine learning, sensor technology and configuration.

The Assisted & Automated Driving Control Unit is a scalable product family for assisted and automated driving that meets the highest safety requirements (ASIL D). The ECU will provide numerous communication interfaces for the necessary data flow. The first product of this family is a module for driver assistance systems, which offers a cost-optimized solution to connect environment sensors and actuators, supplemented with central intelligence, safety and security. The control unit for automated driving is the next development to follow. It includes a powerful computer that meets the requirements of highly automated driving, with a focus on the specific digital structures for a comprehensive environmental model, ASIL D and real-time performance.
