The perhaps most interesting improvement is the CAN Traffic Analyser. This virtual instrument combines signal-based measurements and content-related analysis. It displays CAN messages in hexadecimal and decimal format, along to physical signal measurement which already was available in former versions. Users can chose if they want to track solely CAN data frames or also related CAN bus status frames and other meta data such as remote Frames, Error Frames, or statistical data. The data are displayed in a clearly structured table.
The graphical "level display" for A2L data facilitates the import of description data of electronic control units (ECUs). As some ECUs can handle out several 10.000s of signals, depending on performance level and architecture. However, users have only a limited number of DAQ lists for measurement data acquisition. The graphical level display visualises the extend to which the reading capacity / measurement capacity is exhausted. In addition to the display, the software now has a new optimising algorithm that allocates the DAQ list for a maximum of signals.
The data base functions enables users to administer individual map tiles associated to regions. Instead of storing all the map elements in a large file he can store, load an exchange sections which results in faster exchange times and more flexibility.
The new audio playback function supports the integration of measurement data acquisition from CAN bus and acquisition modules in combination with acoustics-related measurements. Acoustic signals containing vehicle-related sounds are stored as WAV files by means of a microphone-equipped data logger or through a sound plugin for a PC running the Ipemotion software. These signals can be correlated with other measurement results to detect the reason of the sound events. The benefit: Acoustic analysis of new car designs can be conducted already in the pre-series phase; unwanted sound events thus can be eliminated at an earlier stage of the development.
