The R-Car M2 supports high-definition navigation, real-time voice control and other sophisticated functions in the automotive infotainment domain. Its larger brother, the H2, provides high-end performance and 3D graphics capabilities for upmarket automotive multimedia and navigation systems. With a computing horsepower of 12.000 and 25.000 DMIPs, respectively, the SoCs are well positioned in the race for next-gen automotive infotainment systems.
The Cinemo platform from the eponymous software company utilises the R-Car M2 and H2 architecture for Blu-Ray and full HD video playback, audio and video streaming, ultra-fast media management and Rear-Seat Entertainment (RSE). The platform is powerful enough to enable distributed playback and video hardware acceleration with very low CPU load.
Both companies currently collaborate in multiple customer projects for international carmakers based on the Renesas platform. However, no details were provided as to the name of their automotive customers.
