SB LiMotive subsidiary Cobasys gets battery development contract in USA
USABC is a consortium of automotive OEMs Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors. Its charter is to strengthen the technological base of the US automotive industry through joint research and development activities. SB LiMotive is a joint venture of Samsung and Bosch dedicated to the development of e-car batteries.
Under the terms of the contract, Cobasys will oversee the development of Lithium-Ion battery cells and the design of a battery systems with a capacity of 40 kWh which will serve as a technology demonstrator.
The goal of the project is the development and production of battery cells with very high energy density as well as complete drive battery systems for electric vehicles. SB LiMotive aims at increasing the energy density of these batteries by 50 percent over the next three years.
