Seoul semiconductor starts mass production of LED automotive headlights

As the first LED vendor in Korea, Seoul Semiconductor has started mass production for LED automotive headlights. The company also said its LEDs have been adopted by one of the world's top four car manufacturers.

Seoul Semiconductor already developed LED package for automotive headlights in May of last year. The new Z Power LEDs have been supplied through SL corp., a professional automotive parts manufacturer. The company has focused on technology development for two years since 2009, and thus acquired AEC-Q101 certification from AEC (American Electronic Components). Also, Seoul Semiconductor has been provided DRL (Day Time Running Lamp), a kind of headlight, to European manufacturers since past year.

Recently, hybrid and electricity cars have been drastically grown and LED automotive headlights have been growing as well. The world's LED automotive headlight market was at 986 million dollars last year and it is expected that the market would be at 2.16 billion dollars in upcoming 2014, recorded 22% of high growth in annual average. In particular, LED automotive headlight market is expected to rapidly grow, with 36% of annual growth rates, out of LED automotive lighting fields. Seoul Semiconductor has product lines of whole fields, which are required to in and outdoor LED automotive lighting, in accordance with the market trend.
