In automated driving at SAE Level 3 and above, driver and passengers must be permanently monitored to ensure that the driver can take the wheel at any time and that the passengers are in their seats. Radar solutions operating at 60 GHz are therefore the first choice for interior monitoring. To test the radar sensors used for such tasks, dSpace has expanded its range of solutions in the field of radar target simulation: With the DARTS HBC-7066V, the company now provides a converter that enables any dSpace Automotive Radar Test System (DARTS) to operate in the 60 GHz V-band. This also applies to DARTS in the field.

The easy-to-use over-the-air test method of the DARTS product family enables validation of the entire sensor transmission channel. The small size of the converters makes them ideal for in-vehicle use.

In combination with various DARTS base units, special test requirements such as distances of less than one meter or processing bandwidths up to 5 GHz can be supported. According to the manufacturer, the DARTS HBC-7066V provides a powerful solution for safeguarding in-cabin monitoring systems, and the product features industry-proven base technology, said a company spokesperson.

dSpace Automotive Radar Test Systems (DARTS) are suitable for a wide range of applications in the development process of radar sensors and the vehicles equipped with them. Typical applications arise in the areas of chip design, controller testing, vehicle testing, end-of-line testing and vehicle homologation. The function and performance of the new 60 GHz radar converter will be demonstrated at European Microwave Week, September 25-30 in Milan, as part of a product demo at booth B28.
