The VA7000 chips are the first transceivers to meet the MIPI A-PHY specification and address automotive applications for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving (ADS). MIPI A-PHY, which has just been released, specifies high-speed in-vehicle data transmission over ultra-lightweight wiring harnesses up to 15 meters, with adaptive noise suppression and retransmission mechanisms to ensure excellent EMC/EMI performance. The MIPI Alliance is a leading standardization organization for interface specifications, whose CSI-2 and MIPI DSI-2SM video interfaces for sensor connectivity are well established in the mobile and automotive markets.
The VA7000 family has been designed to support current and future MIPI A-PHY requirements – from 2 to 16 Gbps as defined in version 1.0. In the future, they are even expected to support up to 48 Gbit/s.
The VA7000 product family includes
- the VA7031 Serializer supports remote long-range connectivity of CSI-2 based camera sensors, radar and LiDARs with a bandwidth of up to 8 Gbps.
- the VA7042 Deserializer, with two independent receiver links and speeds of up to 8 Gbps each, plus an additional CSI-2 input port to support complex topologies.
- the VA7044 Deserializer, with four independent receiver links and speeds of up to 8 Gbps each and an additional local CSI-2 input port.
The VA7000 family is a hardware-based solution optimised for asymmetric links without a software stack. It guarantees a high performance, simplified architecture that reduces the complexity of wire harnesses, resulting in lower overall system costs. In addition, it enables convergence of additional protocols (I2C, GPIOs, clock and frame synchronization) while guaranteeing extremely low latency to ensure time-critical, high-throughput traffic for demanding computer processing.
