Keysight Technologies has introduced an automotive SerDes receiver (Rx) conformance test solution that verifies MIPI-A PHY devices in accordance with the requirements of the Compliance Test Specification (CTS). This solution was developed in collaboration with BitifEye Digital Test Solutions GmbH and Wilder Technologies, with support from Valens Semiconductor.

Semiconductor manufacturers are planning to implement MIPI A-PHY, a common physical layer interface for automotive and other surround-sensor applications, including cameras and IVI displays. Keysight’s Rx compliance test solution recreates a compliant transmitter producing a controlled distorted signal (worst case) and analyses the impact of the distortions on the receiver’s ability to correctly sample the transmitted data. It enables car manufacturers and their suppliers, as well as vehicle engineers and system integrators, to test the receiver and validate its performance in the harsh environment of a vehicle.

The system presented ensures the quality of digital transmission by measuring the receiver’s ability to recover data from a disturbed input signal. Key features include

  • – A comprehensive test framework to determine the margin in which a device under test (DUT) operates.
  • – A device that couples the noise to an active link to stress the receiver.
  • – Access to predefined noise profiles.
  • – All relevant hardware, software and accessories under a single model number.
  • – Automatic report generation in a comprehensive HTML or PDF, including margin analysis.

The system can be interfaced with Keysight’s Arbitrary Signal Generator (AWG) to produce a wide range of random and complex noise profiles with reproducible results.

BitifEye Digital Test Solutions GmbH provides test software that complements Keysight’s product portfolio to create highly integrated and automated application-specific test systems. Keysight has partnered with BitifEye to deliver the first solution capable of testing Automotive SerDes MIPI A-PHY data link receivers.
