Eneos already operates 45 hydrogen filling stations in Japan’s four largest metropolitan areas. To enable scaling, the specialist is also developing technologies to facilitate hydrogen production, including a CO2-free supply chain. Toyota, in turn, offers various hydrogen-based mobility solutions for cars and commercial vehicles, for example, but also for forklifts, trains, ships and even stationary generators.

In addition, Woven City will be a model city at the foot of Mount Fuji: a “living laboratory” with the aim of developing and testing sustainable and networked lifestyles. Toyota and Eneos want to bring their expertise to the partnership in order to exploit the potential of hydrogen. The goal is to achieve CO2 neutrality not only in everyday mobility, but in all aspects of daily life and in the urban infrastructure itself.

Specifically, Eneos is building, among other things, a hydrogen filling station in the immediate vicinity of Woven City. In addition to the filling station, stationary fuel cell generators installed by Toyota in the city will be supplied with green hydrogen, i.e. hydrogen produced from renewable energies.
