dSpace makes prototyping system fit for the future
More demanding prototyping applications for the development of autonomous or electrically powered vehicles as well as growing demands for connectivity and safety in function development call for powerful in-vehicle prototyping systems. With the new Version III, tool manufacturer dSpace has updated its real-time system MicroAutoBox and aligned it to requirements.

Complex control algorithms require ever more computing power. This is why MicroAutoBox III is now equipped with a quad-core ARM processor that offers up to 16 times more computing power per core than the previous version. In addition, significantly more Flash and DDR4 memory are available for executing large models.

MicroAutoBox III is available in the I/O variants known from MicroAutoBox II. This facilitates migration to the new system, as existing wiring harnesses can be reused. For maximum connectivity, each version of MicroAutoBox III has, in addition to numerous analog and digital inputs and outputs, three Ethernet ports (Gigabit Ethernet) for the host connection and other devices as well as two automotive Ethernet ports (100/1000 BASE-T1) as standard. In future, in addition to a WiFi option for wireless access, there will also be another new DS1521 version of the MicroAutoBox III, which addresses the topic of networking in vehicles in particular and has numerous automotive bus and network interfaces. This variant is particularly suitable for developments that take account of the centralization of the E/E architecture, such as higher-level domain controllers or gateway applications.

The ConfigurationDesk software with the Bus Manager is available as a configuration and implementation tool that has already proven itself on the systems of the manufacturer's Scalexio product family. This makes it possible to reuse models (Simulink, FMU) and I/O configurations and also exchange them between MicroAutoBox III and systems from the Scalexio product line. This reduces implementation effort for new development projects and increases consistency between compact and modular systems.
