Intel to launch automotive R&D lab

An Intel spokesperson acknowledged that there are plans to open such a site but declined to provide much further information. The lab will conduct research on topics around infotainment, telematics and transport systems. The official launch will take place on February 29. According to rumors (which Intel did not comment) the Karlsruhe location has been selected for its proximity to the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). At KIT, significant research activities are under way with respect to smart traffic management systems and electromobility.
