The Swiss watch crystal specialist Micro Crystal, which belongs to the Swatch Group, has developed the RTC (Realt-Time Clock) RV-8263-C7 product family. With it, the company also wants to address applications outside the watch market, especially in cars, wearables and IoT.

The 32.768 kHz quartz crystal and semiconductor RTC chip of the RV-8263-C7 are housed in a 3.5x1.5x0.8mm miniature package and offer a wide input voltage range from 0.9 to 5.5V with a very low current consumption of only 190nA at 3V. In addition, a very high stability of ±20 ppm at 25°C is achieved through individual calibration during production. Due to the perfect coordination of the individual RTC components, a later calibration in the customer's production is no longer necessary. Furthermore, a frequency offset register for individual tuning and both timer and alarm functions as well as pre-programmed 30s and 60s time markers have been integrated.

The combination of extremely small size, wide supply voltage range and low current consumption makes the RTC module RV-3028-C7 flexible and predestined for state-of-the-art wearables and consumption-sensitive IoT applications. The crystal family is also suitable for automotive applications: The components meet the requirements of the AEC-Q200 standard.
