The new types in the CGA family offer the world's largest capacitance values of 22 μF in size 2012 (2.0 x 1.25 x 1.25 mm) and 47 μF in size 3216 (3.2 x 1.6 x 1.6 mm) for nominal voltages of 4 V and 6.3 V respectively. The capacitors enable a space-saving design with fewer components. Depending on the target applications, the products are certified to the AEC-Q200 standard.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to improve safety are becoming increasingly important. At the same time, the number of features that support autonomous driving is increasing. The ICs for controlling these features provide more and more functions, and for noise suppression an increasing number of MLCCs are used for smoothing and decoupling. The demand for miniaturised, high-capacity MLCCs is also increasing in terms of space-saving designs.
The new CGA series offers smaller dimensions and higher capacitance than conventional products, thus allowing a reduction in the number of MLCCs with a corresponding saving in space. TDK will continue to expand its product range to serve the growing market for automotive applications.
Series production started in September 2020.
