The XENSIV TLE4999I3 enables the development of fault-tolerant systems with a single component, which must meet the highest functional safety requirement (ASIL D). Applications include, for example, electric steering systems, electric throttle valve systems and pedal applications.
The ISO26262 standard requires a system to function correctly even if a single fault occurs, for example if a component fails. The TLE4999I3 thus enables uninterrupted operation at system level. The device consists of a single silicon crystal on which two independent Hall elements are located. Their signal paths are separate from each other. Internal control mechanisms already carry out a plausibility check of the sensor data within the device. In addition, the new linear Hall sensor provides the system with extensive status information.
In addition to functional safety, the TLE4999I3 offers high magnetic sensitivity with an error tolerance of less than 2 %. The offset error drift of the main channel, also an important parameter for a magnetic sensor for determining the absolute position in a magnetic field, amounts to a maximum of 100 µT. This is only half as high as for comparable products. The values of these parameters apply over the entire temperature range and the product service life.
