The jointly developed technology is intended to enable the targeted identification of security risks and an early response to cyber attacks. In this way, the Vehicle SOC can support the automotive industry’s efforts in the area of cyber security. The aim of the partnership is to use the technology to protect connected vehicles around the world and thereby secure the mobility of tomorrow.

Since 2016, Panasonic has offered SOCs for factories to protect their systems and networks from cyber attacks. In addition, the company sells vehicle SOCs under which Panasonic developed an automotive intrusion detection system that detects cyber attacks and identifies the type of threat. The system transmits the analysis data to the Vehicle SOC, which is mounted on the vehicle. In addition, a Security Information and Event Management System (SIEM) analyses and visualises a large amount of data received by the Automotive Intrusion Detection System in the Vehicle SOC. McAfee also already supports SOCs and Managed Security Services (MSSs) for well-known companies, which has enabled the company to develop unique expertise. Under the partnership, the companies are combining their experience and expertise to develop a Vehicle SOC that protects vehicles around the world from cyber-attacks.

As McAfee informed on request, the planned development is a pure software solution, paired with a consulting service of the two partners.

ue to innovative developments in the field of autonomous driving, the ongoing digital transformation and the increasing number of connected vehicles, the risk of cyber attacks on vehicles is increasing every year. For this reason, it has become essential for the automotive industry to establish new technologies. The new Vehicle SOC is designed to make it possible to continuously monitor connected vehicles for security risks.
