Zync Inc, (not to be confused with the eponymous SoC architecture from chipmaker Xilinx) bridges the gap between the entertainment and automotive industries. With the company's technology, media content can be provided in the vehicle via a central partner. Thanks to the software solution and the international partner network of Zync, for example, personalisable streaming offers from third-party providers can be integrated directly in the vehicle. Porsche advertises that the Zync integration turns "every vehicle into a personal cinema auditorium".
What’s more, the Zync technology has an important advantage: The solution builds completely on existing infotainment architectures. This eliminates the need for hardware adaptations. In addition to car manufacturers, the Zync offer is also aimed at new mobility providers.
In addition to various media cooperation, Zync offers access to curated libraries with premium content. These are intelligently personalised and recommended based on user interests, travel duration and current mood. By 2023, further functions such as interactive video games or online shopping will be integrable. "We are delighted to have Forward31, a strong partner from the automotive industry, at our side," says RJ, founder of Zync. In addition to its headquarters in San Francisco, the start-up is opening an office in Munich this year.
For Porsche, the expansion of its start-up ecosystem plays an important role: the carmaker wants to use it to increase its innovative strength. In addition to building companies via the company builder Forward31 , the sports car manufacturer uses various other instruments. Through its investment unit Porsche Ventures, the company participates directly in promising start-ups. With the APX accelerator programme, a joint venture between Porsche and the media company Axel Springer, Porsche focuses on the further development of companies that are in an earlier start-up phase. In addition, Porsche is a partner of the open innovation platform "Startup Autobahn".
