The increasing demands for electrification and connectivity in the vehicle sector demand more processing power combined with uncompromising cyber security. Automotive manufacturers' demand for domain controllers or central control units (CCUs) that meet connectivity, data protection, security and over-the-air update requirements led ST to develop the Telemaco family of automotive multiprocessor systems-on-chip (SoCs) and associated Telemaco3P Modular Telematics Platform (MTP). The latter provides an open development environment for prototyping smart driving applications. To ensure adequate cyber security, the Telemaco3P SoC has a built-in isolated hardware security module. This provides security measures for the implementation of systems that qualify according to ASIL-B.
The Software R&D Services Division of Tieto and ST is developing software for vehicle CCUs and next generation telematics solutions based on the Telemaco3P platform. Tieto also supports customers with system integration and the design and development of a wide range of smart driving applications. The applications will support high-throughput wireless connectivity, over-the-air firmware upgrades and car-to-car communication solutions.
ST's Telemaco3P MTP includes positioning hardware based on the automotive GNSS-IC Teseo, which supports multiple satellite systems, and dead reckoning sensors. It also offers a direct connection to automotive buses such as CAN-FD, FlexRay and BroadR-Reach (100Base-T1) as well as optional modules for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LTE and V2X communication.
Together, ST and Tieto will demonstrate an intelligent V2X function for warning pedestrians crossing the street at the CES trade fair from 7 to 10 January 2020 in Las Vegas.
