Tool supports test of GUI-based control units
Development tool provider Vector and froglogic GmbH, specialized in test automation of graphical user interfaces, have jointly developed a solution for testing GUI-based embedded systems. The goal is to provide development and test engineers with an integrated toolchain.

The solution combines software tools from classical GUI testing with those from ECU testing. The vendor tandem therefore promises to ensure full quality assurance at all stages of development.

A frequent request in the context of testing distributed systems is the inclusion of the entire system, including the graphical user interface (GUI). froglogic and Vector have combined their test domain tools Squish for GUI tests as well as CANoe and vTESTstudio for testing embedded systems to enable an efficient quality assurance of the entire system.

Based on the open interfaces of Squish and the support of C# in vTESTstudio and CANoe, a plug-in was developed that makes the complete functionality of Squish accessible directly from CANoe tests - including image and property-based verification, OCR, and professional UI automation.

The integrated approach of Vector and froglogic enables users to realize fully integrated end-to-end tests where GUI controls are stimulated before the resulting effect is verified at the hardware interfaces and vice versa.
