In-Vehicle computer brings AI to trucks and heavy-duty mobile machinery
With the EvoTRAC S1901, Kontron introduces an in-vehicle computer platform for use in trucks and mobile heavy-duty machines for the construction, agricultural and mining industries. With this platform, the supplier aims to meet the increasing demand for adaptable and versatile computers for customer and vehicle-specific applications. The EvoTRAC S1901 is modular, optimised for AI applications and can be extended with GPUs for application acceleration.

Equipped with the Kontron COM Express base module COMe-bBD7 Type 7, which is fitted with a powerful Intel XeonD-1500 processor, the EvoTRAC S1901 computer features a high memory capacity (up to 64 GB RAM), integrated GPS, numerous I/O interfaces and several expansion slots for GPU/FPGA accelerators to facilitate processing intensive applications such as edge analytics, machine learning and predictive maintenance. Optional extras include fan-cooled or liquid-cooled chassis, a microcontroller for functional safety, two MXM GPUs and WiFi or LTE for advanced connectivity.

The computer comes pre-installed with the 64-bit Linux Ubunto 16.06 operating system. It is connected to the vehicle's 12V network and consumes up to 350W depending on the configuration.

The first quantities of the Kontron EvoTRAC S1901 will be available from December 2020.
