Vehicle display slashes development costs for OEMs
Continental has developed the programmable display unit MultiViu Compact 7 for use in special vehicles, minibuses and small series vehicles. The digital instrumentation makes it possible to filter out from the multitude of available information those that are relevant to the respective driving situation. Vehicle manufacturers can thus significantly reduce their development costs.

With the MultiViu Compact 7, manufacturers of small series can now obtain customizable instrumentation in OEM quality at an attractive price. The primary instrumentation with a 7-inch display and optional touch screen is versatile, for example in construction and agricultural machinery as well as in motorcycles and minibuses. It is available immediately from specialist dealers.

The MultiViu Compact 7 offers manufacturers a significant amount of design freedom. Installed in landscape format, the display serves as a compact alternative to the instrument cluster and shows vehicle information such as speed or fuel level. In portrait format, it becomes a second device for additional, non-driving information and can take over the practical menu navigation. In the version with touch display, the MultiViu Compact 7 is reminiscent of modern smartphones and can be operated just as intuitively. The manufacturer himself decides what exactly is shown on the display in both applications. Continental provides a programming environment with which it can develop the applications itself and adapt them to its individual requirements. Continental's experts provide training and on-site support if required. The 24 illuminated symbols on the side, which provide additional space for information, are also freely configurable. In addition, the cover glass can be customized, including the logo.

Continental promises that the display is easy to read even under unfavorable lighting conditions, such as strong sunlight. The display is made of real glass and is therefore particularly scratch-resistant and robust. It is also waterproof and vibration-resistant. When switched off, it has a black, homogeneous surface (black panel design) and thus blends harmoniously into the interior concept. It can be used in a working temperature range from -30°C to +70°C. Two CAN connections, a video input and several digital or analog inputs and outputs round off the technical features.
