Volabo shrinks 48V intelligent-stator drive motor
With the fourth generation of its innovative electric drive, Munich-based start-up Volabo GmbH has been able to reduce the size and weight of the integrated power electronics by more than 50 %.

Generation 4 of Volabo's Intelligent Stator Cage Drive (ISCAD) is considerably more compact than its predecessor, as the size and weight of the power electronics have been reduced by more than 50%. In addition, the power electronics compartment, which also contain the central intelligence of the electric motor, have been significantly improved. Since the power electronics are now based on more compact modules, the appropriate number of modules can be mounted depending on the power class of the drive. The drive technology is thus well scalable and can be used in various areas such as marine, automotive or off-road. With a length of only 33 centimeters, the engine can now be integrated very well into various vehicles.
